Day 1: Cusco – KM 104 – Aguas Calientes
Your expedition kicks off with an early hotel pickup, followed by a train ride from Ollantaytambo to the starting point at km. 104. Here begins your enthralling trek along the Inca Trail. Your journey commences with a visit to the Chachabamba Archaeological site, nestled at 2250 meters above sea level. Accompanied by our knowledgeable guide, you’ll uncover the historical significance and enchantment of this Inca marvel.
Continuing on, you’ll reach the remarkable Wiñay Wayna archaeological site, offering a panoramic vista of the entire valley and its majestic mountains. En route, be captivated by the lush views of the Urubamba River and a vibrant array of orchids, native trees, and vibrant avian life.
Following a rejuvenating lunch break amid the splendid scenery, the trek continues towards Machu Picchu. An awe-inspiring sunset over the Inti Punku (Sun Gate) awaits as a reward for your adventurous spirit. As the day draws to a close, you’ll head to Aguas Calientes for a well-deserved night’s rest.

Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
After a nourishing breakfast, venture to the magnificent Machu Picchu archaeological complex (2400 m) alongside our expert guide. A comprehensive 2-hour guided tour will introduce you to the key sites within the Inca citadel, including its temples, agricultural sectors, and urban areas.
Upon completing your exploration, return to Aguas Calientes to board the train bound for Cusco.
IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS:
- During the high season, there can be a significant bus queue from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes. Arriving 30 minutes early to board the bus to Aguas Calientes is advisable.
- To visit Machu Picchu, the Peruvian government introduced regulations from January 1, 2019, to prevent overcapacity and preserve the site. Re-entry is permitted only with a ticket including Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain. To optimize your visit, consider going to the Intipunku or Inca Bridge before starting your tour.
- Train availability depends on the schedule or reservation date.
