Day 1: Exploring Moray and Huaypo Lagoon
8:00 a.m. – Meet and Preparation
We will start with a pick-up from the hotel and head to Cruzpata, the starting point of our ATV adventure. Upon arrival, we will receive a short but thorough safety briefing. ATV Ride to Moray
At approximately 8:30 a.m., we will begin our journey on the ATVs. The route will take us through stunning countryside. Where we will see local farmlands and experience traditional Andean culture firsthand. After riding for about 45 minutes, we will reach the archaeological site of Moray.
Moray, with its impressive circular terraces, will offer a glimpse into the Inca’s advanced agricultural techniques. Our guide will explain how the Incas used these terraces to experiment with different crops at various microclimates. We will have time to explore and take photos before continuing our adventure.
Ride to Huaypo Lagoon
From Moray, we will continue our quad bike tour to Huaypo Lagoon. The ride will take us through high-altitude trails surrounded by the beautiful Andean mountains. After another 30-minute ride, we will arrive at the peaceful Huaypo Lagoon, located at 3,500 meters (11,480 feet). Here, we will relax by the lagoon’s shores, enjoying its serene atmosphere and breathtaking views.
Our guide will provide information about the lagoon’s importance to local communities. This is also an excellent spot for photos and short breaks before the return journey.
Return to Cruzpata via Maras Salt Mines
We will conclude the day by riding back toward Cruzpata. Our guide will share details about the historical significance of salt production in this region. These salt terraces, still in use today, provide a striking contrast to the green Andean landscape.
