ITINERARY
Day 1: Exploring the Heart of the Sacred Valley
We will depart from Cusco at 7:30 AM and begin our scenic journey to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Our first stop will be the town of Pisac, located at 2,972 meters (9,751 feet) above sea level. We will explore the impressive archaeological site with its agricultural terraces, temples, and ceremonial areas. We will also visit the traditional artisan market, where we can admire and purchase handmade textiles, pottery, and jewelry.
Afterwards, we will drive along the Urubamba River towards the town of Urubamba, the heart of the Sacred Valley. Here, we will stop for a lunch break, enjoying the stunning views of the surrounding Andean landscape. We will taste local Peruvian cuisine in one of the region’s best restaurants.
Next, we will head to Ollantaytambo, a town steeped in Inca history. At Ollantaytambo, we will explore the ancient Inca fortress. Is a magnificent site that served as both a military and religious center.
We will climb the steep terraces for panoramic views of the valley below. Learn about the strategic importance of this site during the Inca resistance against the Spanish conquest.
